About Maker Faire
The Maker Faire was first launched in 2006 in the Bay Area of California. Since then, the event has expanded, appearing annually in the Bay Area, New York City, Tokyo and Rome. In 2012 alone, more than 165,000 people attended Maker Faire events across the world.
Maker Faire exhibitors hail from all industries, including art, science, engineering, architecture, manufacturing and more. One common thread binds them all: innovation. Exhibitors featured at the Maker Faire are on the cutting edge of their niche. They’re individuals, entrepreneurs and companies who are utilizing groundbreaking technologies, inventing new products and changing the way the world works.
In addition to learning about exhibitors and viewing showcases, Maker Faire attendees can participate in hands-on, how-to workshops; see inspiring presentations and panels; and take part in live product demonstrations. Fair-goers can also enjoy fun attractions like a life-size mousetrap, drone and robot building, DIY puppets, Coke-Mentos fountains and more.
